So.
Closed on the condo, despite delays in the timing of the wire transfer from my brokerage account. Cleared out the carpet, tackboard, baseboard, 3 layers(!!!) of vinyl tiling, scraped off of the vinyl tile glue with a razor blade, and pulled out all the appliances in record time. All set to go for June 28th for the tile guy to do his thing.

It is now July 15th--almost 3 weeks later!!--and he is only now approaching halfway done. Of course, he didn't actually start tiling until 2 days ago.
The painting of the walls and scraping/resealing of the popcorn ceiling has apparently occupied him for the better part of that time. When he actually showed up, of course. The first week we got maybe 10 hours of useful work out of him.

Never mind that I had to haul up most of the 30 cases of tile with my brother and Marian helping. And by "up" I mean up two flights of stairs in 90+ degree, 90+ percent humidity weather. I was probably a few minutes away from heat stroke--I collapsed into the only chair in the place and panted for a good 5-10 minutes. And that was with taking breaks every 5 minutes.

He was chatting on the phone during most of this time. Finally got it in his head to help with the last few cases of tile, after we were damned near dead and barely moving. Lazy bastard.

But now the place is almost done. Furniture has been selected, paid for, and secured--awaiting completion of the tile for delivery. Marian's mother is gifting us with all-new appliances, something I'm really grateful for while simultaneously dreading the likelihood of a hidden hook or drama play.

About the only thing that is freaking me out is the occasional rumors of a buyout of the company I work for. Just rumors though, nothing confirmed. Nothing denied either. At least I'd get severance, which hopefully will give enough time to find something. I'm putting out cautious feelers for new opportunities, just in case.

Wedding is in 16 days. 2 weeks and counting. Kinda freaking on that one as well, but at least I sort of-kind of know what expect there.

Oh, and a Category 3/4 hurricane is headed for my honeymoon location, eta this weekend. Hopefully it isn't too badly damaged and can normalize within a few weeks. Oh well--at least it's better than one headed for us the weekend of the wedding.

Just scored a 94 out of 120 on this test my therapist gave me for adult ADD. A score of 55 to 120 is "highly probable." Do the math.

Hmm....why am I not shocked? :)

June 28th?

We CLOSED on the 24th, how could you possibly expect to have the place ready in 4 days?

Besides, from day one ernie said he wasn't going to start working until the 1st, and today is the 15th, and he has other prior engagements.

This is why people get upset towards you.
